Braeburn International School is one of the most expensive schools in Kenya. The salaries paid to teachers are also high. A fresh graduate without working experience earns Ksh 80,000 to Ksh 120,000 per month. This is a teacher employed directly from college. A teacher with at least 3 years of experience especially one who has worked for the government earns Ksh 150,000 to Ksh 250,000 per month. Those teachers who have worked for Braeburn for more than 5 years earn at least Ksh 250,000 per month.
Mary who got employed last year revealed to us the money she earns:
“I got a job at Braeburn in 2021. Previously, I worked at another private school in Nakuru. I got a job because I had studied French and Germany languages, which gave me advantage over other job seekers. My first salary was Ksh 125,000. I had asked for Ksh 150,000 but they offered to pay me Ksh 125,000 and promised to review it yearly. I have worked at Braeburn since then and now my salary is Ksh 180,000. I hope in 5 years’ time, I will be earning Ksh 300,000.
Here at Braeburn there are teachers earning up to Ksh 1.2 million, especially those employed from foreign countries like UK. Here, if you are promoted to any position within the school,your monthly salary won’t be less than Ksh 350,000.

At Braeburn there are also casual workers. A chef is paid Ksh 60,000 to Ksh 100,000 per month. Head Chef makes Ksh 120,000 to Ksh 150,000 per month.
The Head teacher makes Ksh 800,000 to Ksh 1.2 million per month while the Deputy is paid Ksh 600,000 to Ksh 800,000 monthly.
