OSC is a police officer commanding a police station. An OCS falls under Job Groups M and N. The salary range is between Ksh 63,756 and Ksh 68,124. Apart from this basic salary, they also earn allowances. The allowance common to both is House Allowance ranges between Ksh 11,000 and Ksh 15,000 per month based on the region the OCS is attached. If he will be based in Nairobi, his monthly house allowance will be above Ksh 15,000.
The OCS in hardship areas like Turkana earn hardship allowances amounting to Ksh 5,000 to Ksh 10,000 per month.
In a month, an OCS will earn Ksh 80,000 to Ksh 100,000 if you include all the allowances.
We managed to ask one of the OCSs who works in Kisumu. Here is what he told us:
“Mshahara wetu sio kubwa sana. I ern a basic salary of Ksh 70,000 per month. When I add allowances, my pays lip reads Ksh 109,200. I have been an OCS her for 3 years”

Apart from the salary, police also know how to make money from side hustles. An OCS might earn Ksh 100,000 but by the end of the month, he will take home over Ksh 200,000.
