Here is a list of blogging habits you should leave behind from 2025:
Being the sole content creator for your blog
Google now wants you to create a forum where people share opinion. The idea of being the only one who creates content for your blog is outdated and old fashioned. If possible, turn your blog into a forum.
Relying on AdSense as the only source of income
It’s become extremely hard to earn decent income through blogging. You may be earning $100,000 today, then something changes and your income drops to zero. You have to diversify. Join social media, create a business and become a brand.
Informational content
Informational content is now captured on ChatGPT and AI overviews. This makes informational blogs irrelevant. Avoid informational content and focus on niches not on AI overviews.
Avoiding video content
Nowadays people enjoy watching videos as opposed to reading, which is why TikTok and YouTube are popular now. You should focus your energy towards creating videos. If you aren’t comfortable in camera, create a faceless channel.
Doing long form content
Long form content is not fashionable at the moment. There was a time Google loved long form content—the longer your blog posts the higher the rank in search engine. Today, short content is fashionable as long as it answers questions.
Creating a blog to earn money
If your purpose is to earn money, then avoid creating a blog. A blog should be about documenting your experience and not copying and posting other people’s content.
Not selling something on your blog
If your blog doesn’t sell any product, then it won’t help you much. The idea of creating a blog for content only is outdated. Your blog should include a section where you are selling something.
Posting your travel experience in a blog
Travel niche is only profitable in YouTube or where videos are involved. People want to see you move around, the place and your experience. If you own a travel blog, close it and migrate to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
