University of Nairobi The admission is based on the minimum University entry requirements. In addition the applicants should meet the enrolment requirements for the School for the various courses which depend on the KCSE subject cluster as follows:-

Self Sponsored Students (Module II Programmmes)

Admission to the Module II programmes is by the University Senate, through the school admissions committee. Admission is based on the set minimum requirements for each program.

(i)             Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E)

Candidates for admission must satisfy the General University of Nairobi admission criteria of a mean grade C+ in

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) with a mandatory B Grade pass in each of the cluster subjects

a.                   Biology.

b.                  Chemistry.

c.                   Physics or Mathematics.

d.                  English or Kiswahili.

OR

(ii)               Advanced Level Certificate:

TWO Principal passes in A LEVEL: one in Biology and the other in Chemistry and at least ONE Subsidiary pass in Physics or Mathematics. Applicants must attach copies of both their O LEVEL and A level transcript.

OR

(iii)             Diploma Holders in Medical Sciences:

A minimum of K.C.E Division II OR C+ (plus) mean grade in K.C.S.E and C+ in the four cluster subjects.

(iv) Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science from a University recognized by Senate

 

Mount Kenya University
  1. For the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders, minimum university admission requirement is C+ (plus) and in addition, an average of B plain in each of the following cluster subjects
    1. 1. Biology
    2. Chemistry
    3. Physics or Mathematics
    4. English or Kiswahili.
  2.  For Kenya advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) holders, a minimum of two principal passes in Biology, Chemistry and subsidiary pass in either Mathematics or Physics.
  3. For International Baccalaureate (IB), a minimum of grade 5 or above in International Baccalaureate
  4. For diploma holders in Medical Sciences, a minimum ‘O’ level Division II pass in K.A.C.E or C+ (plus) mean grade and a credit C+ in cluster subjects in KCSE , in addition to a three year diploma with a minimum of a credit pass from a medical training institution recognized by the Board
  5. Proficiency in English language
  6. For holders of any degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a recognized university subject to passing Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
  7. Other qualifications deemed to be equivalent to those in paragraphs (a)-(d) above from institutions recognized by the different institutions’’ Senates

 

Moi University
  • Mean Grade of A- at KCSE: A- in Biology and Chemistry; and either Maths or Physics; and either English or Kiswahili- A Weighted Cluster Point of 45 and above is mandatory (using old JAB weighted cluster formula)
  • Minimum of Division I in O’ Level with credit passes in Biology, chemistry ,Maths or Physics and English or Kiswahili and have principal passes in Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Maths at ‘A’ level
  • Holders of Diplomas, BSc & Masters degrees in related subjects if:
  1. KCSE Graduates, have a Mean Grade of B and B in Biology, Chemistry and either Maths or Physics, and B in either English or Kiswahili.
  2. O’ Level and ‘A’ Level System: O’ Level – Division II with credit passes in Biology, and chemistry, and either Math or Physics and either English or Kiswahili. In A’ Level – Have principal passes in Biology, Chemistry and either Maths/ Physics.
  • O’ level British GCE system: Have at least a B in Biology and Chemistry; and either Maths or Physics and English, additionally at A’ level have at least a B in Biology ,Chemistry and either Maths or Physics

 

Kenya Methodist University Minimum admission requirements

1. K.C.S.E. B (plain) and in addition at least grade B in Mathematics,

Biology, Chemistry and English.

OR

2. Advanced Level Holders: A minimum of 2 Principal Passes in Biology and

Chemistry, and a subsidiary pass in either Mathematics or Physics or

equivalent

OR

3. Diploma in Medical/Health Sciences holders: A minimum “0” level Divi-

sion II pass or C+ (plus) Mean Grade and credit pass C+ (plus) in the

cluster subjects in K.C.S.E. in addition to at least a credit pass in the sub-

sequent professional qualifications from a recognized medical training

institution or equivalent

OR

4. Holders of any degree in Biological Sciences or Equivalent qualifications

from a recognized University. In addition they should have attained a

minimum of C+ (plus) in Chemistry in K.C.S.E or equivalent

The Aga Khan University Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders: Minimum university admission requirement is C+. Additionally, applicants should possess an aggregate grade of B plain in the following cluster of subjects: Biology, Chemis​try, Physics or Mathematics; and English or Kiswahili. OR

Advanced level certificate holders: Minimum entry requirements include Principal passes of B in Biology, Chemistry and either Mathematics or Physics. OR

International Baccalaureate (IB): Grade 7 and above in the cluster subjects of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics. OR 

Diploma in Medical Sciences: A minimum “O” level division II Pass or C+ (plus) mean grade and credit pass C+ in the cluster subjects (English or Kiswahili, Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry and Biology) in KCSE in addition to a three-year diploma with a minimum of a credit pass from a medical training institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.  OR

Undergraduate degree: Holders of a Biological undergraduate degree or equivalent qualifications from a recognized University.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Mean Grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE, with a B in Biology and Chemistry, Maths/ Physics, English/Kiswahili or Division I in O’ Level with credit passes in Biology, chemistry, Maths or Physics and English or Kiswahili and have principal passes in Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Maths at ‘A’ level. Or Holder of Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine, Surgery & Community Health
Maseno University KCSE Minimum Mean Grade B+

Or have a diploma in Applied Sciences with at lease a credit pass in relevant Science subjects from an Institution recognized by the University Senate

 

JKUAT C+ mean grade in KCSE

Have a B (plain) in the four cluster subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics, and English or Kiswahili

Have a Diploma in Clinical Medicine with a C+ mean grade and a credit pass in the cluster subjects

Have a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from JKUAT or an equivalent qualification

Be proficient in English

Kenyatta University Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE): A minimum of C+ and a B average in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics, and English or Kiswahili

Advanced Level Certificate: A minimum of two principal passes in Biology and Chemistry, and a subsidiary pass in Physics or Mathematics
