Masters Courses and admission Requirements

Master of Science in Agriculture

A candidate wishing to be admitted to the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences for the MSc in Agriculture must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Crop Science, Plant Biotechnology, Botany, Forestry, and other related sciences.

In addition to the above, they must meet the following;

  • Hold a minimum of Second Class Honors Upper Division in the relevant bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates holding a Second Class Honors Lower Division in the relevant bachelor’s degree will only be admitted if they have two (2) years of relevant research work experience and have one (1) publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Master of Science in Horticulture

A candidate wishing to be admitted to the Master of Science in Horticulture program of the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Crop Science, Crop Protection, Plant Biotechnology, Botany, Forestry or related disciplines from an institution(s) accredited by CUE.

In addition to the above, they must meet the following;

  • Hold a minimum of Second Class Honors Upper Division in the relevant bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates holding a Second Class Honors Lower Division in the relevant bachelor’s degree will only be admitted if they have two (2) years of relevant research work experience.

Regulations on Credit Transfers

No credit transfer shall be given to a candidate wishing to join a Master of Science in Horticulture program.

Masters of science and finance

The school offers market-driven and research oriented postgraduate programmes at both the masters and Doctoral Levels. In collaboration with the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies, the School co-ordinates the graduate programmes, provides teaching and supervision of students.

Admissions

Admission for postgraduate degree programmes is done throughout the year for January, May and September intakes. Application is done online through the Online Application System: https://admission.must.ac.ke/

Master of Education in Planning and Economics

Philosophy of the Programme

The programme is anchored on the philosophy of scaling educational innovations responsive to societal needs for self-reliance. It is intended to provide graduate students with quality, competent, professional and technical skills required by the society in the education sector and industries though bench marking. This is in line with producing quality educational planners and economists in training, research, management and innovation in education for self-actualization. In line with this philosophy, the programme will be reviewed after every five years to align its content and requirements with emerging issues, client requirements’, the University policies, national Government policies, Commission for University Education requirements and international graduate education requirements.

Expected Learning Outcomes of the Programme

By the end of this programme trainees should be able to:

  • i) Participate and contribute in the formulation of public education policy in the society.
  • ii) Apply planning and economics skills in managing successfully a learning and training institution.
  • iii)Use acquired skills, knowledge and competencies in solving educational related problems in the society through research and outreach programs.
  • iv) Conduct economic evaluation of education policies, programmes and provide interventions.
  • v)Utilize modern technologies and techniques in the practice of training and research within their institutions and the community.

Goal of the Programme

The goal of the programme is threefold. First is to prepare and train teachers and administrators for a progressive career in education profession in the field of planning and economics skills with competent, practical and innovative components. This would produce innovative and responsible leaders to serve the community in various capacities and institutions like schools, colleges, teachers’ service commission, ministry of education and global institutions at policy levels. Second, to provide a basis for advanced planning and economics training that enables teachers to pursue advanced training in professional fields. Thirdly, is to engage wider community through outreach programs and research in addressing pertinent gaps in educational matters.

The general regulations for all postgraduate programmes in Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) shall apply.

The following shall be eligible for registration for the Master of Science in Sanitation programme.

  • A holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Health, Environmental Sciences, Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agriculture, Health Sciences or any other relevant degree from an Institution recognized by MUST Senate.

  3. Registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
  4. Holders of a valid nurse practice license.

  4. Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (K.A.C.E.) with at least two principal passes and credits in Mathematics and English at Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) OR;
  5. Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).

Demonstrate knowledge on mitigation of emerging issues in Supply Chain Management.

Certified Human Resources Professional Entry Requirement: KCSE: C+ with Minimum C+ in English and Mathematics, Equivalent/Relevant qualifications subject to Approval by Examination Board.

  2. Click on “Apply” at the top of this web page or at the bottom of this section”
  3. Fill in the required information in each step of the application
  4. Finish the application process and submit your application.
  5. Once your application is submitted successfully, you will receive an email from us indicating your application ID.
  6. Pay the indicated application fee depending on the programme (find payment details below)
  7. To keep track of your application status, login with the Application ID and Password sent to your email.

Follow the following steps to download your admission letter

  1. First ensure you have received an invitation to our university from KUCCPS.
  2. Click on “Log in” button at the bottom of this section.
  3. Enter the your KCSE INDEX number in the formart 0000000000/2023 and click Login
  4. The first time you login, you are required to accept or reject the programme you have been offered. Accepting the offer gives you the access to other services while rejecting denies you access to any other services.
  5. Enter all the required information then download the admission letter and other admission documents

To apply or register for a programme, you are required to attach the following documents:

  1. Passport photo – a clear passport sized photo is required
  2. Scanned National ID – Applys to only Kenyan applicants who are above 18 years of age.
  3. Scanned Passport – applys to Non-Kenyan applicants
  4. Disability certificate – applys to only those who have some disability
  5. Academic certificates – at least 2 academic certificates are required. Example KCPE & KCSE certificates.
